In an effort to popularise e-ticketing among passengers, the Railways has decided to dispense with the existing provision of specifying the type of proof of identification to be carried at the time of booking. A passenger can now use voter identity card, passport, PAN card, a driving licence or photo identity cards issued by the central or state governments to get the e-ticket and then can carry any one of them during the journey.
